Good morning all,
My name is Greg Hanrahan and I am in the process of setting up my company called Update Skills. I have a background in training and development (paticularly in funded provision) having worked for FE colleges and private training providers. I found it all a little constraining, they are not institutions known for dynamism and doing things differently. Anyway I am looking to offer a full range of services to organisations from workforce development strategy, needs anlysis, through programme design & development, management of delivery and assessment of impact and evaluation. In fact, everything but deliver.
I would be really interested from you all as to what you as HR professionals are looking for when trying to align training and development to business outcomes. What are your priorities, what makes your life difficult and what services would make your life easier? I appreciate all feedback, as I am finding it a lonely world setting up on your own, and good intentions, enthusiasm and knowledge only goes so far.
I am looking forward to being an active member of forums, and in due course getting the blogs up and running, but in the meantime I would love to hear from you.
Feel free to follow me on twitter @updateskills
Thanks all, have a good day!
Hi Greg, and welcome to HRx.
I see you tweet, we've said hello! Do you blog too, if so you can link your blog on HRx too (see Blogs)
So what made you go it alone, or is there a team of you?
We look forward to your contributions.
Hi Greg
Thanks for the reply.
I do tweet, and will get round to blogging and will link it once done.
No currently just me, working with a few associates. Had over 10 years developing partnerships between providers and organisations and essentially got fed up with the reasons for not doing things or saying no (large co perogative i guess but frustrating when passing up opportunities). Then I left my last employer with a 'small' amount of money and thought this is my opportunity and if I dont take it now I never will and will live to regret it. it is a lonely world on your own, especially when learning the ropes so keen to source feedback, learn from others experience etc and have found social networking great for that.
Always keen to explore any synergies between what you do and what I do, and am not far from Kettering, so if ever you fancy getting together?
Kind regards
Actually Greg, a quick question. Do you use an automated reply service for your tweets to DM new followers? If so, could you tell me what you use? I thinkl it is a great idea but have not gotten around to setting up.
Thanks
